Trauma Processing Training

The military coup that took place on February 1, 2021, has had a tremendous impact on people's lives. The junta is waging a reign of terror. Ethnic groups have taken up arms and are fighting against military oppression. It is a true popular uprising, resulting in many deaths, injuries, displaced persons, and refugees. Children have witnessed many horrors and suffered trauma at a young age. The earthquake of March 28, 2025, added to this.

Fortunately, PDO High School is a relatively safe haven for the 8,500 children and young people who attend school there. Many of them come from areas where fighting is taking place and/or where the earthquake caused extensive damage.

In our Bridging program, we normally focus on good English education, combined with the acquisition of meta-skills. In 2025, only part-time teacher Aye Sandar was able to provide English lessons. Full-time teacher Shwe Yee Oo was pregnant, gave birth to a healthy son, and was on maternity leave until the end of the year.

Full-time teacher Nann Myint and part-time teacher Yi Mon therefore focused on the well-being of the school's youth in 2025. They provided an impressive series of trainings and workshops on trauma processing and stress reduction, helping more than 1,000 children, young people, and adults.

As a foundation, we are incredibly proud of our teachers and have given them the freedom and resources to continue the trainings and workshops in 2026.
